DHCP and VLAN might be same in some of the configurations but is very different in their own ways. While both of them DHCP as well as VLAN might do the same work of networking but VLAN is an advanced version of the LAN if compared with that of the DHCP. Basically, a DHCP server along with the forwarding agents allows the user to set the things so that user can anytime unplug a client computer from one computer network to another network and then the network becomes accessible within a few seconds of time. If we compare with the dynamic DNS, then the name and place is automatically set whereas the VLAN which is capable of configuring things to a client computer is in the new place and also the VLAN is capable of doing the job of LAN equipment as the with dynamic VLAN assignment allows you to configure things so a client computer can be plugged into any port and have the same IP number which is same as the name and also both of them remain on the same subnet.

The network which is capable of with holding the VLAN enabled network has its own set of configuration list by which it corresponds to the MAC address and also it determines the source IP address of each IP packet which the client computer sends. While the DHCP handles the changes by reconfiguring the client while a network of the VLAN-which is capable handles it by reconfiguring the network port the client is moved to. Also, the DHCP can configure a new client computer for the user while a VLAN-capable network can't configure the new client.

While VLAN users are allowed to set up subnets on some basis other than geographical while the DHCP aims to provide the easy to move capability to networks that are divided into subnets on a geographical basis, or on separate networks. DHCP which comes with dynamic reconfiguration requires a DHCP server, forwarding agent in each router, and DHCP capability in each client's TCP/IP support while VLAN comes with no such support.
